Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Review: All singing, All dancing Edition.
As we finish up our Walt Disney World restaurants, one of our last stops is the gut busting, delicious food having, themed dinner theatre Disney has to offer. Located in the Camp Ground Fort Wilderness on the other side of the Magic Kingdom is this fantastic show/dinner extravaganza.
As you enter you're welcomed into the most beautiful hall. Decorated to resemble the old west, the show starts almost immediately. It's themed after a travelling stage show going from town to town in the old west. Since everyone is in character in the travelling show, it was hard at first to find a server who could help us with my food allergy. I had put my food allergies into the note section when I booked my reservation. The food comes in courses, and the show was starting. I could see food being delivered to other tables and I was starting to get a little nervous since I hadn't talked to anyone yet about my food allergies. My worries were soon squashed when the head chef came over to our table. She asked who had the food allergies and wanted to know everything. I informed her of all my food allergies, and she told me that everything was safe except for the bread, and the dessert. Since it was a buffet style I was a little worried, but she assured me that only the chefs handle the food, the performers merely handed the buckets (yes buckets of food) to the tables. She said would make sure our food was completely separate from the others, and if I had any questions to ask where the kitchen is or ask for her.
I felt way more comfortable after talking to the head chef, and was able to sit back and enjoy the show, and the food. The food was fantastic; Fried chicken and ribs were the main attraction, they were absolutely delectable. The sauce and oils were completely safe for my peanut and nut allergies. They were unfortunately unable to confirm if it was safe for gluten allergies/intolerance's for the meats, but the bread was unsafe for both nut/egg/gluten allergies, as were the desserts. Other then those facts everything was safe, the restaurant as well as the servers was clean. The server who delivered some of our sides was informed and aware of my food allergies, and made sure to tell me she understood the severity and would be here to answer any questions we had.
Overall, I give this place an 8/10. The bread and the dessert was unsafe and there were few to no other options, but I won't say that they didn't try. The environment was clean and the staff was accessible, resourceful, and knowledgable about food allergy protocol.
