Chefs du France: French cuisine with the Mouse
As we continue our trip through our Disney restaurant tour today we look at Chefs du France, a true culinary experience.
Located at the front of the France Pavilion in Epcot Centre is the Chefs du France. Eating here was a last minute decisions on my partners and I part. It was the last day of our vacation, and we were searching for somewhere to eat. As we walked around the park, our eyes laid upon a beautiful building. Intrigued by the design and menu we made reservations for that night at the door. I briefly informed them of my food allergies at the door, and was told to just tell my server.
When we returned for our reservation, they seemed so accommodating and kind. As they sat us, I re-informed them of my food allergies. At first, I was a little skeptical of eating there since I have an allergy to certain fish and shellfish and they had a section in their menu dedicated to seafood. When I told my server of my food allergies he assured me all things were prepared separately but, he would bring the head chef out to speak with me before we order. When the head chef came to our table he asked what I was thinking of ordering, after settling on a pasta dish, he said that everything would be fine with that and said he would over see the order to make sure everything was fine.
The restaurant was beautiful, it resembled a french salon on the inside. I usually refrain from eating bread in restaurants but the chef assured me it was all made in house and brought to the table the most delicious smelling bread I've ever smelled. It was peanut/nut/sesame free. They did not have gluten free bread from what I saw on the menu, but I was told you could special order it. Eating bread in a restaurant may not seem like a big deal, but trust me, it is when you usually have to decline it at many places, and that they will special order it for multiple dietary issues is just awesome.
Our meal was fantastic, overall the place was fantastic. The head chef was informed and overly helpful with all of our questions. He went above and beyond to help us find a dessert option that was safe for my food allergies.
Overall I'd give the place 9/10 I only deduct a point for the slower service with food but I suppose I attribute that to the allergy or the busyness of the place. I would suggest this place for a couple, at least in the time frame we went (late at night) the wine selection accompanied by the ambience makes for the perfect romantic getaway from the crowds at the park.
